Sunday!
We finished off week #1 here. 4 more to go! We heard Christmas music on the radio today. Weird. We did go walking the other day in Lowes, and walked through the Christmas area with all the lit Christmas trees. That felt so nice.
On Friday, instead of going with the group to the mexican restaurant, the short term group from Indiana invited our group to go with them for supper. So we drove a good 40 minutes in the dark, into what felt like the middle of nowhere. There was the restaurant - the shed - that was the name and that is exactly what it was! It was a old very redneck looking shed, inside and out, decked out with any kind of decoration you could think of. Lights strung everywhere, it was really neat. It really felt like we just walked into a movie of a redneck restaurant. To top it all off, when we were leaving the restaurant, and just visiting outside, a group of bagpipe players showed up and just started playing on the parking lot and slowly wandered inside. We asked them if they were scheduled to play there that evening, and they looked at us strangley and said, "no" as in "why would we be?" It was so funny. One of the most random things. Made it feel just a bit more redneck yet. So we had too many people on the way back, and piled them into the van. Two people rode in the trunk all they way home.
Saturday, Wes and i drove down to Biloxi and Ocean springs, just for a scenic drive. We walked along the beach for awhile, the water was surprisingly warm!
Today we went to a mennonite Church in Gulf Haven, a 30 min drive from here. We came back and made ourselves lunch at camp, now it's time for some relaxing. We will have orientation at 7pm tonight.
