We were greeted this monday by 5 new people including new project director, cook and office manager. Wednesday we had 11 more new faces arrive! We are currently working with 9 college students from Hesston and CMU. Their 2 months here are part of their curriculum in college. This is a change from our regular work with MDS as they focus on teaching the students. So it's not just "get to work, work all you can, and come home", -its more like - get up, listen to project director and Wes, go to work, LEARN all the basics of whatever they're doing, work, come home, do bookwork/journaling. (Thankfully we don't have to do that part-even being around it brings back too many school memories!!! ) So it's a lot of learning, teaching, listening going on. The students are being marked on everything that goes on here. Wes was asked to continue to manage the crews/jobs, since he already had been, and knew all the jobs and clients. He was glad to continue with that work. He misses the supplies shopping though! This week has been a week mixed up for us with people here once again, different arrival times of everyone, and irregular schedules. I will go back to work next week, this week I have been helping the new office manager learn the MDS books, as she has no experience with this. I didnt think I did either but I sure have learned a lot the past 2 weeks. This weekend, Wes and I plan on going to New Orleans, Diamond, to hopefully visit with past clients we worked with in Feb 09, and maybe we'll see a plantation house along the way. The weather continues to be hot, hot and humid. They are talking rain for this weekend, which would be wonderful as we have not had any rain in the 4 weeks we've been here.
