Road Trip!
It feels like this week has been a long one, yet I can hardly believe it's Friday already. We did get rain, twice this week. Once today, while I was painting trim outside! It was so good to have rain! Today a guy was dancing and singing in his doorway, across the street from the house we were working in, while it was raining! He was sooo happy! This week, I have been finishing painting a house, and all the trim for the house! I painted in the sun all day today, there is something much much hotter about this sun than manitoba's! Wes has been running around helping here helping there, and today he started pulling apart, part of a kitchen.
Yesterday, our whole group here received a request for us to go down to Weir, Mississippi for this coming week! You probably heard of the bad weather and tornado that hit the area. MDS is now going in and responding to this tornado that hit 1 month ago. It was a group decision we had to make in one evening, and it was decided that everyone wanted to go! So we pack up some tools, clothes, and off we go on Sunday at 9am. Sounds like we will be repairing roofs and putting tarps over roofs. Wes and I are very excited for this experience! It sounds like we will be working in an area where there were 5 people killed. I cannot imagine the damage. I just remember what damage a small tornado did to Blumenfeld when I was young! So the camp is filled with excitement and anticipation as we get ready. It is a 6 hour drive from here. Our accomodations are in 1 or 2 houses, with 17 people. It's another step out of my "comfort zone", although i am beginning to not even know what my comfort zone is anymore. I think this is a good thing. I don't think Wes really has one. So after we return, we have 2 weeks left till we leave! We hope to arrive home on the 13th of June, evening. We will have just short of 2 weeks at home to visit, before we take off to Saskatchewan to help set up for the MDS youth project there. We will spend 9 weeks there. Well, time for supper! We'll talk in a week since internet/cell access is next to none out there.
