I am not sure where this past week went! Somehow, I didn't even find time to update our blog. This past week has felt a bit hectic, as there is a lot to do, and everything needs to be done in a certain amount of days. And nobody really knows what is going on. This week we have no short termers. A nice break for all of us here, we've met a lOT of people in the past 2 months. We both have times where all we want to do is see and talk to no one. Overall, we enjoyed all the groups we met.
We had 6 men from Arborg MB here his past week. A lot was accomplished. James' house has all but the kitchen counter completed-Wes will finish this tomorrow. Chris' house had the sheer wall inspection, which we failed on Thursday. Everything needed was fixed up, and we wait for another inspection tomorrow. Inspections are done only Tuesdays and Thursdays--and it is very, very rare that you pass the first time-as it seems they might sometimes make things up in order to have you fail. There are mixed opinions on that one. In other words, the California inspection system is a system you've never seen before. And never want to see.
Also, the final inspection will take place on the 2 other houses, tomorrow. We are praying that we will pass all 3!
This past week, I have been involved in the dismantling of bunk beds, walls, bathrooms and showers, cleaning tool trailers, and carrying out lumber from the dorms. Wes had a good day today, him and another guy went up the mountain to the job sites and finished the last minute stuff before the inspectors show up tomorrow.
Our last night here in Ramona, will be Wednesday. On Thursday we hook up our camper and head to Escondido (20 min from here) where we will stay at a hotel for 3 nights. We are being joined by our family and friends on Friday night. We can hardly wait!
The other day, Wes said to me, "I can hardly wait til we get to the hotel, you know why? Cuz we will probably have real toilet paper!" (we use 1 ply in our camper).
And my reason for being excited for the hotel is that I can have a hot, long shower! Wow, I never thought those things would be so exciting!
On Sunday, we had the privilege of attending, and being apart of, James' house dedication. It was a wonderful time! I will include pictures.
All in all, we are ready to start the next chapter with MDS. Our bodies are beginning to shut down, as we anticipate our vacation time.
Please pray for physical strength for this next week!

Oh Wes and Ashley,
ReplyDeleteSarah and Alyssa here, back at Millersville University. We miss you both and love following your blog. It broke our hearts to hear that tonight is your last night in Ramona. Our hearts are definitely there and we know yours are as well. I'm sure it'll be bittersweet to leave but we are so excited to see where God and MDS takes you. You are both such a blessing to this world. We wish you travel blessings and lots of rest over the next week. Love you both!
