It's Friday!

It's Friday! One week has passed us by. We had a good working week, and got a lot accomplished here in Diamond. We got the MDS boat mostly completed with getting sanded off and new layers put on for the bottom. We replaced steps to 2-13ft stairways. We insulated, drywalled, took out a window and reframed it for 2. We fixed an electrical problem in one house, and a few more smaller things. ("We" as in the whole group.) Now it's Friday. We worked till 1pm today and then cleaned vehicles and living quarters. Tomorrow is our long term's group outing. Wes and I were assigned to choose it, so we chose to go on an airboat tour. Another guy got to pick the place to eat so we will go to Texas Roadhouse for supper afterwards. Should be fun, hopefully we'll see some alligators in action! Our air conditioner is working again, it actually was up and running again the same day it didn't work, it just decides to freeze up every now and then, so we have to turn it off and let it rest. It is on constantly down here, the average temperature so far is 27-33 C, usually with some humidity, but it hasn't been as bad as it was in New Iberia! It is hot enough, but it's pretty nice. The nights usually cool down, but we still have our air conditioner going at night. The friendly frogs seem to have a pattern of coming out after supper and staying all night, then come morning, they're gone again. And they're getting biGGER every time it seems. Goodness, they are as small as a dime and go up to as big as 1 1/2 toonies! How those suckers can stick to the wall i'm not sure, Wes says they have suction cups on them. Ah whatever! :) Wes is having fun too, he's been one of the crew leaders so far. Our project directors have been trying to convince us to stay here in Diamond, since the 2nd or 3rd day here, instead of heading off after a month, to Pass Christian. They seem to be trying to scheme up a plan to keep us here. All of the long term people here are wonderful, and we all get along and enjoy each other's company. That makes the world of a difference. We have lots of laughter here, and there is constant teasing going on--somehow I seem to be one big target. There is one girl here as cooks assistant, who we also worked with for 2 weeks in Saskatchewan. She is one year younger than me. There's a 19 yr old guy here from Saskatchewan, then 2 middle aged (see how I worded that...)couples here as project director, cook, office manager and construction foreman. So Wes and I are enjoying having the different ages to visit with. Here's to a good, relaxing weekend!! Hope yours is great too!
