Home sweet home!

We are nearing the end of our First 1/2 of our year! How time flies! As there have been hard times being away from family and friends, and constant changes, we have really enjoyed our time away, and learnt so much! Since back from MS, we continue to work in the West end of New Iberia, otherwise known as "the ghetto", the black, poverty stricken area of the city. We wish we could explain the area. It is quite sad. Some of the things include replacing floors from rotting away, same as siding, replacing sinks, air conditioners, roofs with soft spots, all the things that go along with lack of maintenance in a home, for years and years. Wes continues to drive from house to house to house, checking on all the crews, shopping at Lowes for the supplies and delivering them to all the homes, and squeezing in some odds and ends for work, in between. Our minds and bodies seem to somehow be shutting down as we know we're almost finished here! This makes for some very, very tiring days! I got a new pair of shoes last week, which is VERY exciting to me as my previously aching feet no longer ache! How this makes a difference in my day!! We have had a bit cooler weather the past 2 days, before that was hot hot hot. In the early 30s with humidity in the 70-80's. How these people live in this all their life, I just don't know. We have also had a bit of rain here the past few days. Wonderful! Today is our 4th wedding anniversary, Praise the Lord! The group made a anniversary cake for us tonight, and we will celebrate our anniversary by going to Baton Rouge for the weekend, and going to a big waterpark there. Should be a good time away!! Seeya soon!

  3. Hey Wes & Ash! Congrats on 4 years. Just heard you're coming back to MB for a bit. It's been fun to follow your ministry through this blog. It will be great to see you both!
