When a young group of people comes in, every morning at 6:30 am, we are greeted with fresh energy & enthusiasm for the day. I think this may be one of God's way of giving us long termers the energy to face a new day, day after day, week after week. Although, this still does not make me a morning person. Everyday I get up a minute later it seems. Wes does much better than me with mornings. Needless to say, we found this week to be very refreshing to us. It was time for us to see young faces, have conversations with people more our age, and see endless, literally endless, energy around us, from 6:30am all the way to 10 pm, or as long as they can get away with staying up.
Wes and I made a lot of new friends, and God even blessed us with the opportunity to share our latest journey with God, with one of the girls here this week. It seems God has chosen her for a special journey of her own, maybe with MDS! Praise Jesus! It as a wonderful opportunity to be able to relate to and encourage her along the way.
I got to spend a bit more time with 2 girls in particular this week, as I got to take each of them on different days, to the urgent care center . About 5 hours was spent in waiting, between the two days. I was glad to be able to help them out!!
The beginning of this week we had quite cold weather. As a matter of fact, the same weather you manitobans have been having this week! About 5 C ish. We couldn't dress warm enough! The last 2 days we had sunny california weather, as well as today.
At Chris' house we got most of the siding on, and painted. Not quite finished. The interior walls were completed as well. On Thursday, Wes and I switched from Chris' to James' house, due to the electrical work being next on the list, so one of the other crew leaders was going there to do that. There, we completed the interior painting. Underlay is ready to put in on Monday, and the deck railing is nearing completion.
Yesterday the long termers had their group outing. We started by going for lunch at the soup plantation. Then we went on an hour long bus tour of some of the sights in San Diego. Afterwards, we went our separate ways at Sea Port village. (a tourist area with lots of shops)
Today, Wes and I went to a small town about 20 min away, called Julian. It is an old Gold mining town, now a tourist town. It was a neat place. Now we are back and relaxing. We just finished orientation with the new group from Colorado. Back to the "older and wiser."
This was Wes and I's 3rd sunday going to a different church.
Last weekend Wes and I went o La Jolla cove to see the sea lions.
We received some very exciting news last night.....in 3 weeks, when our time at the Ramona project will be up, my sister, brother in law, and neice will be flying in to CA to spend a week or so with us!!! We are SO excited for this! We look forward to a week away from our MDS routine as well, just for a nice break. After that, we will hook up our house and drive 25 hours or so, to New Iberia, Louisiana.
James' house (the bungalow) should be finished before we leave. Chris' house (the 1 1/2 storey), will not be done. The Ramona MDS camp is closing up at the end of this month, and an MDS RV project will be coming to finish the house. The Ramona project is closing due to not being granted any more permits for houses. This is very sad to hear, although nothing can be done to change this.
