Another weekend has come and gone. They go way too fast! We did have a good weekend though. On Saturday Wes decided we would celebrate Valentines as our Sundays are cut short due to orientation at 6pm. So We went to the San Diego Zoo, to Old Town San Diego, (the last time we went there we actually missed the old town part...and went to the other tourist section of that area.) and to Olive Garden for supper. Mmmm it was good. I tried to eat enough so that I wouldnt be hungry the rest of the week. Needless to say, it didn't work. But it was amazing like always. The zoo was really neat, we went on a 40 min tour of the zoo on an open bus, then walked the zoo, then took the air tram from one end of the zoo to the other. Today we again, went to Church and lunch with the long termers, then took off to try and find a particular beach at the Ocean. We found beautiful areas on the ocean with rock, but didnt have time to find any sand. We were there for about 30 min and then turned around and came back to make our skype date with my family! The ocean is just so incredibly beautiful, I could stare at it forever. Wes says so too but he doesn't like all the people.
Skyping was neat, to be able to see all our family in "real" instead of just hearing their voices.
We were glad to see everyone! Including our nieces and nephews! :)
We had orientation again tonight with the new groups coming in. This week they are from Ontario and Carrot River Saskatchewan. There is a man by the name of Ben Pauls here as the pastor of the Church in Carrot River, formerly of Winkler. Some of you may know him. That is as close to home as we have seen so far! This weeks group is all "full of wisdom" once again, except for 1 young couple.
For some reason, when you're a hairdresser, you just can't get away from hair. As sooooon as someone finds out thats what you are, they "suddenly need" a haircut. All these guilt trips, I don't like em! So far I have only given Wes a haircut. My thing is, I am so tired when I get home from work that I have a hard enough time figuring out how I am going to walk from the van to our camper. Let alone go back to work! (yes, cutting hair is "work" when you have done it for a living.) Tonight when the whole group found out I do hair, I told them my price is $100 a cut. We'll see if I have any takers. Haha.
James, one of the homeowners, is a courrier. He keeps talking about how he will have to get a second job when his house is finished, to keep it up and pay the bills that go along with the house. I feel so bad for him, as he already gets home from work late, I wonder when he will have time to squeeze in another job. If you could pray that God will take care of this situation and maybe he won't have to worry about the second job, would be wonderful! This thought really bothers me. He lives on his own. California is just altogether an expensive place to live.
California is just a different place. From roads, to roundabouts, to street bikes/motorcycles cruising in every little space imaginable between you and everyone else, to building permits/codes/inspections, to how vehicles drive and make their own lane on the single lane you're driving in, it is all together interesting. All I can say is- California is just different. Than any place we've been. But we like it.
Well, another day of serving our Lord, coming right up!
