Today we arrived (finally!!) in Ramona California! We spent thursday night and friday relaxing in Barstow CA, and headed out this morning for our last trek of 2 1/2 hours! Praise the Lord for good weather, once again!! About 1 1/2 hours from Ramona, driving on the Interstate 15, our truck just went out. Just like that. So Wes quickly pulled over and looked under the hood. You can imagine what was all going through our heads. As he was checking, i was praying. He came back into the truck and started it right back up. When we had a bit of work done on our truck earlier, the shop had not tightened the sensor on our fuel filter quite enough, so it had vibrated loose. A little tightening and off we went. Oh was that a huge relief!! I know I say this often, but there is no doubt that your prayers are making a difference. God is in control!
We arrived at the MDS site at around 1pm here, (3pm your time) and got our trailer tucked away in it's cozy tight spot among 2 other campers. Our living room view is the old school building right smack next door. Our front door view is the street. Our project directors asked if we wanted to go with them and 3 other long termers for a ride down to Dulzura, which is MDS's other project site in California. So all 7 of us jumped into the big MDS van and off we went, turning this way and that, never knowing which way to lean to next. The same as on our way to Ramona earlier. And all that twisting and turning and up and down is taking place on the sides of mountains where you can nicely see the houses and roads allllllll the way down right beside you, far to many feet down to count. (don't worry Mom and Dad, there are guard rails!) Something we will have to get used to, after driving our table top flat, straight MB roads for so many years. Needless to say, we won't have to worry about getting a speeding ticket. Although I do prefer this beautiful scenery to MB, i do prefer the MB's straight, flat roads. We visited the Dulzura MDS site, and one of the homes MDS is building currently, in the mountains, and then went for a nice supper. Then back to camp for some visiting. MDS is like a family gathering, allll the time.
Ramona, and all the surrounding area is located right smack in the middle of the mountains. I never thought I would live in the mountains. Wow. It is absolutely amazing, I can't even explain. Now we are getting settled in to our new home. So far it feels like glorified camping. The temp during the day was SUNNY :D and about 15 C.
All of the couples here, except for one, (and us) are retired. The younger couple we haven't met yet. Tomorrow morning is Church and a group lunch. The whole group attends a local Church together. Orientation with the short termers for the week, is at 6pm Sunday night. I guess we will have to switch from relax mode to early rising at 6am starting Monday! And it's off to the construction site! Thanks for caring :)
