Today is Sunday. We have now been here every day of the week.
On Thursday, all the girls here (except for the cooks) had a day off, while the guys went to work. This happened because we were waiting on inspections before more work could be done. So there was only enough work for the guys. I used this day off to explore. I wanted to get some pictures developed, so I tried to find the closest Walmart on our GPS. Well, it turns out...I'm not sure what happened actually...so somehow I found myself driving just over 1/2 hour, through the mountains on these lovely curvy roads, not a clue where i was going. Well, once you start driving, its too late to turn around. So off i went, praying along the way! I did find a walmart. Eventually. Needless to say, I was a bit panicked. And I still cannot figure out where I was. After I returned, I lost my camper keys somewhere, so I searched for an hour, calling places I had been. I went to the post office, and when i returned, Laura (one of the long termers) was holding the keys up inside. My zebra keychain had camoflauged right in with the white strip on the parking lot. So I caught up on computer stuff, phone calls, and stuff like that. I had a very refreshing (and overwhelming) day off. Friday was back to work for me.
Wes built walls, put rafters up, and cemented the pads for the front porch.
I hammered my thumb and two fingers...and hurricane clips, earthquake strapping, and fire blocking and helped build outside walls at Lamonte's house. (I also learned LATER how to hold nails with a plyer, to avoid popping my fingers open.)
Wes and I were at the same house.
We enjoy working together, although sometimes it is nice to be at seperate houses for a change too.
The food is very good, according to Wes. Me, on the other hand, well, if you know me well enough, you know I am getting by. I am craving homemade pizza, so hopefully I will make that today for supper. This past week we had 2 groups of mostly age 16-35, men and women. They were from New York State, Virginia and Pennsylvania. The group was full (sometimes a little over-full) of fun and laughter. It is so neat to hear the different accents and the different names they have for things.
This morning was Church, Wes and I went to McD's for lunch(which tastes different than Canada's) and now we are relaxing. 6pm is orientation with the new short termers who will arrive today.
Yesterday (saturday) was our group outing. MDS pays for this. We went to San Diego for the day. To the Soup plantations for lunch, Whale watching for 3 hours on a boat, and to the Outback Steakhouse for supper. Afterwards, Wes and I walked around the huge shopping area nearby.
The whale watching was so neat! We saw a few whales, and quite a few dolphins! I will post some pics of this weeks happenings.
I had my first moment of not wanting to live in a camper this week. It happened when my water for my shower turned cold. It feels like that 2 minutes of warm water gets shorter every day. Oh how I miss standing in a hot shower for 15 minutes. We will have to say goodbye to that for awhile.
For me, that is the worst part of camper-life.
We hope everyone else is doing good also! Hoping these updates are creating a picture of what our life is like these days!
